14 Weeks

14 weeks! Bebs is the size of a lemon!

Please forgive the picture. It was taken at 6 a.m. this morning, without make-up. The horror!

On a more serious note, please also forgive the previous post I wrote entitled "Mommy Rant." I went back and majorly edited it. I want my blog to be positive and showcase what my pregnancy is like. I don't want to have all that negative energy taking up space in my life, let alone the blogosphere!

Bebs: Bebs can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his/her thumb! The kidneys are producing urine, which he/she releases into the amniotic fluid — a process he'll/she'll keep up until birth. Bebs can grasp, too! From head to bottom, the baby measures 3 1/2 inches — the size of a lemon! — and weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His/her body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of the body. (Legs still have some lengthening to do.) Bebs is also starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his/her body. The baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and the spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells.

What is going on in there?
